RAF Officer in Court Martial Success

22.07.2013

Owen Edwards successfully defended an RAF officer facing career threatening assault charges. The prosecution called several witnesses during a three day trial. Detailed cross examination revealed serious inconsistencies in their accounts. The case required an understanding of life on camp but more importantly a willingness to robustly represent the interests of an accused in a court martial.

Conviction at a court martial can result not only in criminal punishment but in the potential loss of livelihood and family accommodation .The officer in this case was represented by local solicitors with experience of armed forces work. Legal aid allows the accused to choose a solicitor and/or barrister of their choice. This case perhaps highlights the need to obtain the best representation as soon as possible when facing charges.
